parking charge in scotland

Options
I was issued a parking charge while parked in a retail park shopping because I was over the 2 hour allowed time.
I did not see any signs when I parked and I have parked before for well over 2 hours without any bother.
the car is registered in my husbands name although he was not there with me. so he phoned the company and told them he was not paying as 1 it was extortionate fees, 2 he had parked before with no ticket 2 we did not see any signs, ( although when we went back to the retail park there where signs on lampposts about at least 12 feet up and considering I am only 5 foot I didn't see them.
we have now received a demand for payment from a debt recovery company saying if we do not pay they instruct the companies solicitors to take court action.
any advice?

The advice is to search this forum for the keyword Scotland.

Come back and tell us what you find. :)
  • Yes, follow the advice for Scotland and ignore.

Hell will freeze over before you get taken to court in Scotland.

Your husband should never have contacted them, make sure you have absolutely no further contact.

Yup - Just ignore them and their totally empty threats. There is no chance of them taking action against you if you don;t contact them to ID the driver. And precious little chance even if you do.
