Coupons in mags / newspapers

Last week's chat magazine ended up being nearly free to me because there was a coupon in it that I used in ASDA (and I might win the £1001 crossword...).
This has got me thinking: are there mags or newspapers that regularly have coupons worth as much as the cover price?
I read the Guardian by choice: never any money off coupons. Is it worth pickingup one of the tabloids at the same time? If so, which one's best for money saving?

I am given a lot of vouchers ffom the Mail on Sunday, so luckily I dont have to read it... but I know that the amount of offers regularly exceeds the cover price of this 'news' paper!
Great thread, I have been wondering this question myself. In my experience I have a lot of vouchers in Zest magazine, and the sau=insbury's magazine is usually worth getting too.
And save a few more pennies by reading the guardian online!Member no.1 of the 'I'm not in a clique' group :rotfl:

AS an experiment I'll pick up the MoS today.
My newsagent is going to raise an eyebrow at that!!0 -
I disagree. M o S does not have many coupons, and certainly not greater than the cover price. In my view, buy the paper if you want to READ it, but not if you are merely looking for copuons.0

So now we need an impartial judge to buy the MoS and do the sums...
Thing is, there's also going to be a diference between total value of coupons and total value of useful coupons - which will vary from reader to reader. I'm a bloke - so I for one will not be taking advantage of any coupons for a whole range of products aimed at the opposite sex...Hi, I'm a Board Guide on the Old Style and the Consumer Rights boards which means I'm a volunteer to help the boards run smoothly and can move and merge posts there. This last week I have managed to get about £4 worth of magazine coupons from my Granddad's Daily Mail. Now I always check through it to see if there are any coupons in it. Sometimes there are food coupons, but this week they had special promotion for May's EVE magazine (didn't work in Tesco though, it "wasn't valid yet"!?) and a few general others which have worked, and saved me a few quid! You never get any warning that they will be in there, so it's always worth a flick through to check.0

Maybe a quick flick through at the news stand before you buy, even?Hi, I'm a Board Guide on the Old Style and the Consumer Rights boards which means I'm a volunteer to help the boards run smoothly and can move and merge posts there. I hardly ever use the coupons for their intented product. I exchange them for hard cash in Tesco! (see the tesco threads) Who cares if they're aimed at the opposite sex, the checkout person isn't going to even notice or care. You could send your unused coupons in this direction!!0 -
It has never occurred to me to do this. Until now. Hi All,
I 'have' to buy OK magazine each week for my mother, cost £2, but this has £1.50 worth of Express coupons in it each week (20p x 5 for weekday Express, and 50p off Sunday Express), and occasionally has similar 20p off weekday vouchers for the Star too!
As I work in a newsagent, I can redeem them at source as such, respend at work!
Cheers

- send off for £88 pounds worth of plants and seeds, plus a free japanese maple tree if you want one!!! (tree worth £22.99) pay £3.99 postage
- free weightwatchers registration coupon
- half price breakfast at little chef
- half price main meal at little chef after 3pm
- 10p off weitwatchers mousse or moussecake (in the magazine)
- half price books for reading groups
- plus prize crosswords the newspaper and the magazine
I think therefore that my theory was right! and i have absolutely no problem with buying something just for the vouchers if they are things i am going to use!Member no.1 of the 'I'm not in a clique' group :rotfl:
