Quick straw poll: laminate worktop colour

Hi all,

Quick straw poll as my builder needs a swift decision, but I'm in two minds!

I'm getting this reversible IKEA laminate worktop for new tiny U-shaped open planned kitchen: http://www.ikea.com/gb/en/catalog/products/90226900/

The edge is stainless steel, and the top can either be matt grey (they call it "aluminium effect") or matt white.

My units are plain matt white (Veddinge, formerly known as Applad - http://www.ikea.com/gb/en/catalog/products/00205431/) and the splashbacks will be brushed stainless steel. So I guess we will kind of have this effect going on:

or

So white or grey top? Which is better?
And sorry if this is obvious (but I have no idea): will white laminate stain?? Anyone had any experience?

Thanks!

I would say grey myself. I went for a chocolate colour top in my kitchen as my mate said it wouldn't show up any stains, it shows them up even more ! White would be too stark IMO

Also will blend in with splash backs, against the white units, will look good.

Not that I'm a fan of the colour personally, but I'd go for the grey. It will make a much better contrast & tend not to show every crumb as much as a white worktop will.

Do think carefully before making your final choice. I made a big mistake choosing my current worktop in the kitchen as it shows every little crumb & streak & I intend changing it eventually.
The bigger the bargain, the better I feel.

I should mention that there's only one of me, don't confuse me with others of the same name.

Thanks to those who contributed! I've taken it on board and after much reflection, I've gone for the grey. Thank you for your input :)
