Disassociation - straightforward, anyone had issues?

Hi all,
Apologies if this question has already been asked in the past.
I am in the process of selling the house I own with my ex. Neither of us have lived there for over 2 years (rented out to friends) and the mortgage has never been late or missed.
Once sold, I intend to close down the joint bank account which the mortgage is paid from and apply for a financial disassociation from him. We have nothing else is joint names.
I just wondered if anyone had done the same and if so, is it straightforward?
I suppose the reason I'm asking is because I know he is terrible with money and also lazy, for example, he hasn't changed his address and still pops round to pick up his post! I am trying to cover my own back as I don't want his decisions to effect my future.
Any tips/minefields to be aware of would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

Straight forward only issue is it can take a few weeks/couple of months.
Make sure you do all three CRA's and when they have confirmed it is done (they will give a timescale of when completed) check all your CRA files to make sure it is gone. All that glitters is not gold.0 -
Thanks very much
I gather from other threads its noddle, experian and equifax? I'd heard rumours I'd only have to contact Experian so glad I posted eek.0 -
Yes thats the three (noddle is call credit but same difference). I contacted all three, I dont think they communicate with each other as far as I am aware. All that glitters is not gold.0

I have very recently applied for disassociation and as long as there is definitely no association then its simple. I only had to go via Experian as the other two didn't show it. There is a form asking for plenty of details and when Experian confirmed it, was gone within 24 hrs.
Any searches made under the association still stay on your file for up to 12 months though, but the is not visible so other companies, just you and the credit reference agencies.
Hope that helps0 -
Thanks all, most helpful
Roll on the day I can fill in the forms!!0
