Just used some metal from a diet coke can to blank the FIL's 55 plate TDCI Mondeo.
If it goes again, I'll buy a plate to do it. they're on ebay for £7.
My own car has it done (1994 merc diesel) and I've just got rid of a Passat diesel that had it done (1999).
Next plans to blank the one on the OH's car.
The coke can will burn through very quickly. You need something much thicker.
1 or 2mm thick ideally.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -
Have decided that he is going to blank it off,he bought a plate from ebay last month when we first considered it so we already have that.
He has rung around a few garages for extra advice and they have all said may as well blank it off,i am a bit concerned though because when he asks if that will mean needing it remapped most say no but some say maybe.
Also i know it can throw the EML on which is an MOT failure and might throw the car into limp mode but i think we will try it and see what happens.0 -

Oh i see thanks Retrogamer i thought it was,i must have read about the new rules with some of the other lights and got confused, that is useful to know.
Not that i really want the EML on but at least it's not a failure and my son when going through a stage of wanting to learn mechanics has a code reader so it could be checked periodically for other issues.0
