When I am signed in to messenger and I am on a different page, a little box comes up and tells me I have received a new message and who its from, my firends doesn't, can anyone tell me how we set it up, thanks!

In Messenger, go to Tools >> Options, and select the Preferences tab.
Under 'Alerts', tick the 'Display alerts when an instant message is received'.
That should do it (if I understand you correctly).0 -
if you are using msn messanger the reason they might not get the box is that they are using an old version they will need to update it to the latest version0
