Surveyor or structural engineer needed?

Morning everyone!
We have recently had a small extension built to the rear of our house and I have just noticed some very obvious cracks which have appeared both in the extension & in the existing house.
I'm assuming & hoping that they are just down to settlement of the new structure but given that we are currently involved in a legal dispute with the builder I feel these cracks should be checked out properly.
Who would be the best person to do this? A surveyor or a structural engineer?

Both would be suitable however it may be cheaper to go direct to a structural engineer, as if the surveyor thinks it is movement he is likely to suggest one.Ask me no questions, and I'll tell you no lies0 -
Go straight for a structural engineer.Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.
