Small Debt About To Drop Off Credit Report - Should I Pay it?

Hey All!
So, I am UK National who has been living in the USA for several years and now I moving back. Before I moved out here to the US I thought I had closed everything, however I just pulled up my UK credit report and there is a small debt of 100 pounds sitting on there, no idea from where (says Telecommunication Supplier, maybe mobile phone?!), that is due to drop off my account in December 2014.
Question, doing the right thing would be to pay it, however would it look better to have zero credit on my account or one account that is old, that is in default that was paid? My goal when I move back is to rebuild my credit rating.
Thanks in advance!

If you have no idea who owns the debt, how are you going to pay it?0

The debt is now owned by a collections agency and there telephone number is displayed on the report I pulled. Nothing else is given, however I would assume if I give my name and previous address they could find my account.0 -
Are you 100% sure it is your debt?
Problem with DCA's is that they might have marked your file incorrectly, it might not even be your debt. When you call them they will convince you it is your debt regardless and try and get you to pay.
Even if you do pay it the default will remain on file until December 2014 anyway. Paying it makes little difference to your creditworthiness. A default is a default.0 -
Hmmm, that's a good point. If it is a mobile phone contract then I know I cancelled all my accounts, however on the other hand, I also know that at the time it took an act of god for them to cancel it when I was leaving.....wouldn't shock me if they just left it open.
It does seem odd however, is it not the case if I call to confirm these details, the debt clock as it were resets itself as I have contacted them and it won't drop off after December 2014?0 -

The only way the statute barred 'clock' can start again is if you acknowledge it in writing or make a payment.0
