Item not as described

I've received an item which is not as described. I've read suggestions on here about contacting ebay to see if they will pay for the return postage -the seller is willing to refund but not postage. Can someone please advise me the best way to go about this in order to get a positive outcome.
Cheers

    Is it a business seller?
If you haven't already contacted Ebay you need to do that.
A business seller is legally obliged to fund the value of the return before you actually return it. Your best hope is via Ebay or getting the seller to be sensible. After that it's Trading Standards and if they can't help then it's legal action (presumably it's a small amount, so small claims procedure is fairly pointless).

Hi, no its a private seller and a fairly new one and I don't think will be 'sensible' as originally said they wouldn't refund any of the postage. When you say my "best hope is via Ebay" - what is the best way to do this?
