I found a really nice 08 diesel at a really nice price but it has 180,000. It has one previous owner and full service history. I am so tempted but the high mileage really worries me. what are your opinions on this? No nastie comments please xxx

my limit would be 120-130k. Anything more would worry. Don't know why, just does.

    Are you looking at £5/6k

Unless it's an ex taxi, then you would expect a diesel to have higher mileage, the miles must have equated on longer runs, £1.5k is not a bad price depending on what marque the vehicle is of course.

OP might want to tell us what make and model the car is.
Hoping this year is better than the last. :)

Buy on condition. What car is it?

A car of that age and mileage has probably just spent its life cruising up and down the motorways, and has probably lead a more stress free like than a 30,000 mile car purely used around town.

£1,500 for an 08 reg is no money at all, its almost disposable motoring at that price. I'd buy it, and if it lasts 12 months, you have had your monies worth out of it! Another way to look at it, is £1,500 is one months depreciation on a new car.

If you can go through the service history with a fine tooth comb, and can see its been serviced and looked after throughout its life, and is in good nick, go for it!

That reminds me of the time when my sister told our mum that I had a new car. She said “it’s the same as mine. Its red.”

The only mazda i get for under £2k and 6 years old on autotrader is a mazda2 an mx-5 and a bongo van!

I cant see how an 08 diesel is worth as little as £1.5k and is still good (regardless of miles)
