laptop and films

Evening,All,
With laptop connected by HDMI lead to TV we were happily watching films that we have on laptop, suddenly they wont play/run on TV, they run alright on laptop still though, I've checked connections etc. all the same as usual, what's going on?

Also tried films from memory stick through laptop to TV which worked fine but now won't.

As far I I know I haven't fiddled with anything I shouldn't !

Hope the above is clear?

Regards
Smudge

Can you see the laptop background on the TV? Or is it only showing on the laptop screen?

What if you right-click the background and select Screen Resolution? Can you get an option to extend the desktop (background) to the connected TV? (Or use the TV instead of the laptop screen - the graphics power on some laptops can be such that they can't really cope with driving 2 screens).

fn - F4 is a shortcut key combination on many Windows laptops for changing the arrangement of multiple screens.

Think it's F5 on mine - if you look at the keyboard it'll be a little blue squarey icon. Usually when things like interactive whiteboards have stopped working in schools it's that toggle combination that's been pressed...normally it toggles between both screens being on > laptop only > output only each time you press it.
