How do you get replacement Divorce papers?

We are hoping to get married in the next 3 months and Ive just been on the registry office website where it states that if you were previously married you need to show your divorce papers. Now I have mine but we cant find his anywhere.
I have seen them but its ages ago and we have moved house twice since. We now cant find them anywhere after a day of turning the house upside down.
The problem is that he cant remember when he got divorced, we know it was early 90s but cant remember any other details. He cant even remember where he got married.
His ex wife has married again and is on facebook but as he hasn't had any contact with her in over 20 years we don't want to ask her for help with the details.
Anyone know how we can get a copy without knowing where the orig divorce was granted?

no idea I went back to the original court where the divorce was held. They produced a copy for me, but I also knew a rough time as well. Not sure if they would've charged to search a big bigger time frame, as I narrowed it down to about 6 months0

Thanks for the reply, problem we also have is that he dosnt even know which court it was. his ex dealt with it at the time and just sent him papers to sign.
He was married about 2 years but cant even remember what year he married. Don't think his heart was really in it somehow:rotfl:0 -
