Happy New Year Everyone!:T
Not a great start, bought an unnecessary dress & a Jacket (not even in the sale)But on the plus side, just before Christmas I made £100 by driving my own car on business and I won my exercise classes and more for the next 8 weeks worth £160 and a free massage and since I’d already bought a package of classes I got £108 refund!:D
Christmas seems such a long time ago already, I’ve had a nice week off work, a caught up with a couple of old friends and went to see Paddington at the Cinema, it was so sweet!:grouphug:
Wish me luck, tomorrow I’m off to the annually family gathering including screaming babies and crazy relatives!
Here’s my updated stats:
MFW & DFW - Goal - to be Debt Neutral by Dec 2018
Mortgage -£49118/£66445 (started Feb 2010)
Parent Loan - £7104/£15000 Student Loan - £4188/£9479
Stoozing Credit Cards -£4525
Savings - £30364
Debt Neutrality - -£34571GOAL:- £400k in Savings by March 2026 SAVINGS: – £388,251 COMPLETE GOALS - Debt Free, Mortgage Free, £350k Savings Save 12k in 2025 #41 = £21,772 / £25,0000 -
:eek:Dangerous feeling, I’ve been playing around with my long-term projections and getting very excited I may be able to become debt neutral much sooner than I originally anticipated, I’m having to reign myself in at the moment so I don’t get carried away and disappointed if it doesn’t pan out – Interest rates will go up soon (possibly next spring or after the next general election) so I need to be cautious. I’m currently on a variable rate, and I’m loathed to fix again too soon as I’ll lose all the no ERC benefits and will be paying a higher interest rate sooner.

:hello:Hello!
Well I got a bit of a shock this week!
Halif@X slashed my credit limit by about 80%! _pale_
I checked my credit rating (30 day free trial & through Top Cashback for extra money;)) One of the reports gave me 4* and the other rated me Poor! I checked through and there is some missing info so I have to get that sorted now. I went into the bank, but they couldn’t deal with me so I had to call them. She couldn’t see why they had done what they’ve done but couldn’t amend it either. :doh:So now I have to write to them to appeal the decision. Flippin’ ‘eck what a palaver! I’m starting to wonder if it’s worth it?...:wall:
On top of that, work is horrific at the moment – it’s crazy busy, we’re short staffed and I’m struggling to keep up. :mad:My evenings are full with Pole & pilates etc. :AI’m really making the most of my free classes. Though I have had to take an evening off this week just to let my muscles recover a bit. I’ve got an Indian head massage booked for this afternoon, but it’s covered by my Medicash scheme so it’s free, and don’t think it can come soon enough.:D
 Last week I had a bit of a clothing sort out, Bin, Charity shop & eBay. I put a load of items on eBay, actions end at the weekend. I’ve never sold anything on eBay before so it’s a bit daunting. Still at least I’ve had a couple of bids for a few items. So, not a complete loss. I don’t expect to make much out of any of it but I suppose it’s better than nothing. I’ll update you next week.:)
Have a good weekend all! :wave:GOAL:- £400k in Savings by March 2026 SAVINGS: – £388,251 COMPLETE GOALS - Debt Free, Mortgage Free, £350k Savings Save 12k in 2025 #41 = £21,772 / £25,0000 -
:hello:Hello!
Well I got my 10yr bonus this week– 1 week’s tax free pay. What a lovely post Christmas gift! Now what shall I spend it on?...:A
In other news, I sold a few items on eBay but I only made a few pounds, some items have been re-listed.Some of my cash back became payable so I've just had a £128 pay out
I went to London last weekend to visit a friend, despite being a 'tourist' in the Capital I managed not to spend too much money I went to the V&A and Kew Gardens, it was a lovely little break.
I haven't heard back re. Credit limit but I hadn't expected to. I expect it will be several weeks before I hear anything. And I don't hold out much hope it will be what I want to hear.
Have a good weekend!

Happy Weekend Everyone!:hello:
TGIF! Work is manic at the moment, we're short staffed and have several large projects on the go at the moment.
I've invested in a few more stocks & shares this week. It was a bit of a spur of the moment thing so I hope it pans out.
I sold a couple more items on ebay, at a profit of £2. Very disappointing!
I heard back from the credit card people this week regarding my credit limit issues. It wasn't a flat no which surprised me, it was a request for a bit more information and asking permission for a credit check, which I suspect will be the death blow since the act of getting their credit card in the first place lowered my score so horrifically! Still it's nice to know they actually considered my request. And I expect I'll find out soon.
Since it's the end of the month I've updated my statistics:
MFW & DFW - Goal - to be Debt Neutral by Dec 2018
Mortgage -£48870/£66445 (started Feb 2010)

Hi all, TGIF! :hello:
It’s been a busy old week for me, work is still crazy and I’ve been to 8 exercise classes so far this week with 2 more to go. I’m knackered! _pale_
In financial news Experian fixed some errors in my credit rating, I opened another current account (I think it’s an addiction for me?!) :DThe current account is nothing special but it has a 6% regular saver attached to it. That brings my total to 9 current accounts and 3 regular savers, thank goodness I’m organised!;)
In even better news the bank gave me my full credit limit back on my credit card. I couldn’t believe it; I’m still surprised they even read my letter. :j
I’ve had a TC pay out of around £80 this week in Amazon vouchers, when they come through I plan to put them towards a new microwave and a portable heater, since I only have the heating on for 1.5hrs per day, my flat is freezing!
So, have a great weekend all!:TGOAL:- £400k in Savings by March 2026 SAVINGS: – £388,251 COMPLETE GOALS - Debt Free, Mortgage Free, £350k Savings Save 12k in 2025 #41 = £21,772 / £25,0000 -
Happy Friday :j
I'm still waiting for the paperwork for my M&S so I can set up my new regular saver.
I claimed about £20 of TC Amazon vouchers this week. I had my eye on a pretty heater it would have cost me about £55 but I went with a more ugly one (I can hide it away when not in use) it cost £22 including a timer and extension cord + this one blows cool air so I can use it in the summer as well.;) I had planned to get a new (much needed) microwave, but I can't pick one I like. I'll keep looking.
I bought a hat from accessorize, I'd seen & wanted it last year it was £17 reduced to £5.60 Bargain! :T
I was a little bit naughty and bought a new sports bra, leggings and top for £30. I will get a £5 voucher back though. And I will have done 10 classes this week :A including Aerial hoop - YAY so happy to be doing that again! - so they'll get used.
My wrists, elbows, biceps & shoulders are all suffering with this new training regime, next month I'll drop back to 3 or 4 classes a week so hopefully that will help, I've also booked a massage for next week but don't worry I got a 15% discount voucher + I'll claim the money back from my Medicash scheme.:money:
Oh and I booked tickets to a couple of history talks next weekend about Aethelflaed (King Alfred's Daughter). So I'm looking forward to that.:D I must remember to pick them up today.
Bye Bye:hello:GOAL:- £400k in Savings by March 2026 SAVINGS: – £388,251 COMPLETE GOALS - Debt Free, Mortgage Free, £350k Savings Save 12k in 2025 #41 = £21,772 / £25,0000 -
Hi Gang :hello:
I'm a bit late with my post this week. I ran out of time yesterday, I had a deep tissue massage (she said it was less of a knot and more of a mass that she had to break up Eek:eek:! My shoulder is still a bit tender. Then I hade Pole and yoga.
I've just got back from my History talks today, they were really interesting. I was supposed to go with a friend but she just received some sad family news so I took another friend instead. We had lunch in town, Tapas, Lovely! And I bought a new track suit top (without an annoying hood) for £3.49 reduced from £31.99. Deal of the week I think!:rotfl:
So in money matters, I set up my M&S regular saver that's all set up to start next week. :T
I renewed my contents insurance, I stay with my existing insurer but joined them as a new customer so I could take advantage of the new customer benefits. (I've done this every year since I bought my flat) I couldn't get any cash back so I went through the meerkat website so I'll get a toy I can flog on eBay for £20.:p
I also renewed my broadband and line rental. My current provider offered me the same price as last year, I could only find one better deal and that only gave me an extra £8.73 for the year. I didn't feel it was worth the faffing that comes with a switch.
I hope you are having a good (and frugal) weekend. See ya next week.:wave:GOAL:- £400k in Savings by March 2026 SAVINGS: – £388,251 COMPLETE GOALS - Debt Free, Mortgage Free, £350k Savings Save 12k in 2025 #41 = £21,772 / £25,0000 -
It’s my end of month review;
I’ve done battle with the Credit card Company and won, :jand battled a cough / cold and lost!:( I set up another new current account, bought some shares and renewed some annual policies. I’ve kept busy with work and exercise.
Now I’ve come to a big decision. I’m changing my MFW goal. My original challenge was to be debt neutral by December 2018. Now I’ve had this in my head for several years, long before I started this Diary. But I feel I can push myself further. My new goal is to be debt neutral by February 2018, I moved into my flat in February 2010, so I think exactly 8 years has a nice symmetry. It’s also exactly 3yrs away.
My Signature has been updated accordingly
