Ford Focus 1998-2004 (possibly others) - Dashboard fault diagnosis

Hey guys
Just found out how to use the cars dashboard diagnostics to get the fault code as follows;
With the ignition off hold down the mileage tripmeter reset button, start the car (still holding the button) and wait for a few seconds the word "test" should then appear (now release the button)
Each further press of the button with scroll through various gauge/bulb tests, temp, fuel etc. Stop when DTC appears (diagnostic trouble codes). If any codes are stored they will be displayed, if not, "none" will be displayed.
This works on a 2002 Focus ST, haven't tried it on anything else.

I bought one of these and use it with my mobile.

It's worked on a Chrysler Voyager and a TDCI Mondeo to date, and was also able to reset the fault codes as well.
It paired with a Passat as well.
You just click on the code and it tells you what it means (to the extent googling the code would).0 -
Works on a lot of Fords, But its useless. It may show codes when there are no faults and it only shows a very small selection of codes also.
Its a useless feature.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -

I'm going to put it on a system I have access to tomorrow (owned by a Merc Specialist) to find out exactly what the problem is, but it's given a code that would indicate it's ok to drive down there (40mi), which also means I can dump the car/keys down there and walk to the office.forgotmyname wrote: »Works on a lot of Fords, But its useless. As above, the code it's given indicates the car is ok to drive, so I can get it on a proper system in the morning.
