I've just looked up an NZ recipe for mustard sauce to make sure mine was correct, and I discovered this on-line version of The Edmonds Cookbook.
Just as the BeRo book was produced by a flour manufacturer, this was produced by a baking powder manufacturer.
Everyone, but everyone had an Edmonds Cookbook. They were free, just had to send off for it. Here is the address for the on-line version.
I loved living in NZ, HM and OS was the order of the day when I was there, much more than here even then. I don't know now.

I would love to hear if anyone decides to make anything from it.
a 'gill' is equivalent to a quarter of a pint.

Hiya,
I am a Kiwi and have a dog earred and dirty copy of the Edmonds Cookbook in my kitchen. Its used weekly and is definately my fave. It has so many useful bits in it, I couldnt do without it.
I have posted recipies from it online here before now - Anzac biscuits went down very well!!!!!
Any question do please ask.

I have a very battered copy - not the 1914 version as here - it is missing pages and is stained and torn, but still one of the best, up there with BeRo.
I love 'Elsie's Fingers' and, of course, 'pikelets' we call the ones we make here 'drop scones' but you can't beat the NZ version. NZ scones are also fab, cut square and eaten soon after cooking. I remember my 'mum' friends would whip up a batch to give the kids when they got home from school, to hold them till dinner. They were served with butter, what else, but the kids were not fat.0 -
I have an old Stork Cookery Book which I like. The Be-Ro, a Trex Cooker one (not used much) and a Cadburys Chocolate Time Recipes book.
I don't think you can beat these old style recipe books.£2 Coins Savings Club 2012 is £4.............................NCFC member No: 00005.........
