Hi guys,
Every time I turn on my laptop or wake it from sleep I get a little message popping up from the system tray area on the right hand side, it says "USB device not recognised" and when I click the "x" in the corner of the bubble it just keeps coming back..
I wouldn't mind but I have no USB device attached to the laptop!!
Any ideas??

Probably an internal device then . . . bluetooth? wireless adaptor? etc?
Has it just started doing it or have you always had the problem?
Corrupt driver maybe?0 -

Only just started doing it! The only thing I have done lately is disable a load of extensions/add-ons in Internet Explorer... that wouldn't do this, would it..?Usbdeview and remove likely culprits.
Sorry, I don't understand what that means!

It's a piece of software that allows you to view usb devices and enable/disable them. Google it.0

Is the touch pad working ok ... this is often construed as an internal USB device.
Look in Control Panel > System > Device Manager ... and see if any of the hardware devices have an exclamation mark alongside them ... if so, this will be the culprit.... Ah thank you! Yes I guess that makes sense... Okay I have installed it... but annoyingly now it's suddenly stopped giving the error messages!! isn't that always the way when you ask for help with something..!!!
I will keep an eye out for it happening again...0 -
