PPI charged by employment agency

Hi,
I was wondering whether reclaiming Payment Protection extends to employment agencies.
I was employed through an agency for a number of years and each month they deducted Payment Protection from my salary before I got paid. This wasn't optional.
Do you think I have a case to claim back that money and if so from who?
Thanks

If it wasnt optional then how was it mis-sold?I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). The comments I make are just my opinion and are for discussion purposes only. can't remember what they said it was for but if I wanted to work I had to pay it.I'm struggling to understand what PPI is in this situation. What did it /was it alleged to cover?0 -
If you still have any of your payslips from that time have a good look at them - and see what the deduction is actually called.
If you think the deduction was in some respect wrong then approach the agency and ask them to explain it.0 -

Good thinking - I don't have any old payslips - I use a software package to track my money and put in the splits shown on the payslips -National Insurance? Tax?
No Gik, it wasn't Tax, NI, Holiday or Sickness pay - wasn't even pension - it was payment protection.
I'll contact the agency as suggested by Dr Squeeze -

I doubt you'll get very far with any complaint about a compulsory payment, unless the agency was somehow acting illegally.it wasn't strictly mis-sold.
I also can't help thinking this thread might garner more informed responses (with regard what the payment might pertain to) over in in the Employment, Jobseeking and Training forum;

This is certainly not PPI in any form.0 -
Its a weird one. You dont expect employment agencies to offer such a thing. So, it will be interesting to see how it pans out.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). What insurance company would offer such a policy on behalf of the agency? Agency workers are employed on a casual basis and I can't see there being any "payment protection" in case of unemployment? What "payments" would such an insurance protect?You dont expect employment agencies to offer such a thing.
It's definitely something other than PPI.0
