Motability options

I'm entitled to get my first motability car and wondered if I go to a dealership can I get a car that isn't brand new? Maybe a year or two old? I hoping to get a better spec car with a lower advance payment and thought if it's older maybe cheaper...

No you have to have a new car on the scheme.
They used to do a hire purchase scheme for used vehicles, but I don't think they do this any more someone else will know for sure about this. Although if you are able to get private finance there is nothing to stop you using the mobility benefit to fund the repayments.
However the mobility scheme means you have no other costs which if you purchase privately or have hire purchase you do. Like insurance maintenance etc. depreciation.
If you are going to do low mileage you may be able to get a 5 year lease which makes the cost of the advance payment lower.
Will you need any adaptations to the vehicle or a WAV?Think of all the beauty still left around you and be happy - Anne Frank :A0 -
The motability scheme works on a 3 year lease scheme so that you get a new car with warranty for the lease period and then motability get to sell the car on and recoup some value from the car. You can privately finance a car using your Higher Rate Mobility allowance as I did but you will be getting a much older car for the same cost without any of the service benefits. Most cars on the scheme will allow you to pay a little more upfront to get a better model but I found that the motability offers have lots of great features as standard.0
