If you're ever tempted to use a car buying site. Steer clear of sellcar.uk!!! What a terrible experience! I tried to sell a honda civic type s-gt, the car was very well maintained and mechanically a dream. After the initial description I as offered £5400. I then listed what I Believed to be any issues with the car. The salesperson, Chris was very misleading on the phone. He took £400 off the price for the cost of refurbing the alloys and a scratch, the value of which was then deducted again on the day of sale! The quoted cost to repair the alloys from a local dealer was £40 each and £80 for the scratch, so I don't know how they arrived at £400, when they will pay trade price for repairs!? When asked on the phone whether or not I would recieve a hard sell on the day, he replied no as Long as the car was described accurately. Any reasonable person would expect a 7year old car to have minor stone chips from being driven, as such, I expected this to be taken into consideration when being made an offer. Apparently not!! The car is expected to be showroom condition for the company to keep to the price offered. After having a 20% reduction on the price offered, I was then to all intents and purposes forced to agree to a lower price as the collection contract has so many penalties in it that I would end up out of pocket to nearly £200! Awful company!! The faults they find on the car are the sort where even as an owner who regularly cleans and waxes the vehicle, I had never noticed. An example was a dent over the window, which was only visible from placing your head on the vehicle and looking down the profile with the sun behind you. Even then it was barely apparent!! My advice would be go elsewhere!!! Even minor stone chips, barely 1mm across were classed as major damage that they would have to repair.... To sum up, don't expect any honesty or help when dealing with them over the phone, just expect to have your vehicle picked apart for any faults they can find or manufacture, so don't use them!!

You pay a deposit to sell them your car?
Didn't that ring any warning bells?0
