O/S Daily Sunday 27th April 2014

This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine

    Morning everyone

Hugs to those that want/need them.

Now light, cloudy, dull and dreich, drying up under foot. Rain yesterday was awful for a while then stopped mid morning.

Myself and DH up and enjoying a peaceful cuppa.

Dinner last night was chicken curry, rice and accompaniments. Lunch today will be roast pork, and all the trimmings.

Yesterday I got in to town early, did the couple of jobs I needed to get done. DH went to our friends and that little job is now all done. We didn’t get to the other caravan job, so possibly going today. We did get to visit my parents, and was going to visit the outlaws but they we out – very unusual as they don’t go out very often especially at the weekends, as they are both now retired they tend to go out in the week when it’s not so busy. So we don’t know where they were but I’m sure if there’s anything for us to know they would have been in touch.
We were naughty yesterday and DH and myself walked up to the village pub and had a drink at lunchtime – was a really nice change, I had a lovely BLT which DH and myself shared – not very OS I know but sometimes it’s great to do something different.

Have a peaceful Sunday everyone x

    Keep safe and well x

    Morning all
It's a bit dull here this morning, hopefully it will brighten up later.
I'm not cooking lunch today, we are taking a mini greenhouse over to DD1's along with some tomato & pepper plants & her hubby is cooking lunch for us. She's 33 weeks pregnant & not expected to go past 36 weeks but she's determined to keep mobile & is still walking both her dogs every day. She's uncomfortable & the midwife says that basically she has run out of room. both babies are head down and both weigh about 4lbs.
Hubby has been diagnosed with Platar Fasciitis, & the chiropodist suggested I massage his feet every morning before he gets out of bed, oh joy.
Next week we are having our mid year appraisals at work, that will be fun, I have done most of what I was asked to do apart from the items that I needed training on & the training is not forthcoming, hey ho, no doubt another load of criticisms & character assassination coming my way.
    Have a good day everyone.
    Hugs Hester
    Chin up, Titus out.
  • Good morning everyone

The sun is shining but not sure how long it will last so the bed has been stripped and the washing machine is on.

Am very miserable and full of woes this morning so short visit just to wish everyone well and to take care. Hope I will have news to cheer me up later.

Good Morning chums dry and fairly bright at the moment here in north Kent.I have a day of visitors .My eldest DD will arrive for her strangled eggs and coffee around 10, then my sis-in law who lives in Faversham is dropping by at lunchtime on her way home from taking her sister back to Essex so I had better rustle up some lunch for her as she will be hungry after her journey.Later this afternoon I will be collected by youngest DD to go to her house for dinner tonight. So a busy day all around I think.Tommorrow I have my oldest friend June from Dartford coming down to see me and we are going out for lunch in a local pub so I don't have to cook then:):)
Hester I feel for your husband I once had Plantar Fasciitis and its jolly painful.Appently it used to be called 'policemans feet' as a lot of bobbies on the beat suffered with it.Perhaps you could massage his feet before and or after some 'Hestering ' :):):):)
Right enough chinwagging, I'm off for a shower and spruce up so I look decent before DD arrives
Have a great day what ever you are doing
    Cheers chums JackieO xxx

    Morning All

HH - Personally I would only massage someone's feet with a big stick from a fair distance! Hope you manage to survive your appraisal.
TTFTM - Hope you cheer up, not like you to be down.
JackieO - Sounding like your old self! Enjoy your Sunday.

Looks a bit overcast today, yesterday was the same and turned into the most fantastic afternoon with 4 loads of washing dried on the line.

Went into Glasgow yesterday with DD (she started work at 9) and managed to get a few bits for my holidays and new black socks for both of us - they suddenly looked all bobbly and grey! It was great as it was so quiet, I was home again just after 11.

Cleared out the conservatory yesterday and put the shed stuff in the shed, we can now use it to sit in and it was lovely last night to sit in the warm and light. I will try to use it more often.

Not sure what I am doing today, DD will start work at 11, she came home with a terrible cold yesterday so hoping she's a bit better today. Will strip DDs bed when she gets up, I think I will get a fresh chicken for tea.

Have a good Sunday, take care. XX

    Morning all,

Just started to rain heavily here, OH will be home from the bootie soon, hope its not raining at alton towers for dd, I should imagine it would be quite miserable there in the rain (mind you I am not 19 )

Washing will have to go on the airer today I have stripped two beds so it will be all over the place, It can go in conservatory and with only a small bit of sun it will dry fairly quickly.

Chicken casserole for dinner tonight with crusty bread will get it in the sc after this, dd wont be back till late and will get something to eat on the way home.

Jackie O nice to see you posting x

Hester I had to google Plantar Fasciitis I think I suffer from something similar, I have terrible heal pain since starting this new job, it really is very painful, but I am not sure I would massage anyones feet !

    Have good days all xx

DH suffers really badly with plantar fasciitis and bony heel spurs, he had to give up running because of it. He uses some of the techniques mentioned here

especially the ball and the foam roller, we got both of these very cheaply from Sports Direct.

    Afternoon all,

I was messaging my sons ex until the small hours of the morning. She wanted a shoulder to cry on and felt she could confide in me. I have to remind myself that I'm not long out of the black dog myself and try not to let her bring me down. Theres a reason she still isn't with my son and it wasn't all my sons fault.

Hubby has summoned our daughter and her fianc! to our house. He's got a proposition for them regarding the caravan. He wants them to use it for holidays and stuff but my daughter is only into foreign holidays and hotels. He's wasting his breath. He doesn't want to use it but doesn't want to sell it either.

Just pottering about the house today. Hubby has got a months worth of accounts to do so will be tied up most of the afternoon. No doubt i'll find something to pass the time.

    Onwards and forwards
    have a great day all.

    Afternoon all,

Had a busy few days and didn't have time to read or post yesterday, hope your all well and I didn't miss too much.
LW I haven't seen you post for a while, hope all is ok.
I have the same problems with my feet, especially my right one, but omg I love a foot rub. Dh knows if he gives me a foot rub I'm putty in his hands:rotfl:
My son and gf are coming for lunch shortly, another one doing chicken casserole and crusty bread. Had a nice evening with dd and bf last night. The more I see him the better I like him. I'm so pleased she has found someone committed and caring at last.
Early start tomorrow as DGS is back at school and dd back at work. My youngest comes back from Cleethorpes tomorrow. I've missed him, but haven't forgotten about the disgusting bedroom.
Off to catch up with yesterday's thread.
