Raising soil around air bricks

Hi, I have a small area of land next to my house that I wish to stop people walking all over. my intention is to raise the soil level to that of the driveway and plant shrubs / ornamental trees in it. the issue that I have is that doing this would cover the air bricks in the bottom of the wall, which as far as I am aware shouldn't be done!
does anyone have any ideas or experience on how to get over this problem please?

A few alternatives providing the holes aren't covered.

Have you checked the position of any damp-proofing layer/barrier, you don't want to go bridging that either.

Thanks for the reply, the website is quite useful, and I will probably go with one of the ideas, here is a pic of the issue, the damp proof course is on top of the air bricks! DSC_0053.jpg
Label on a pack of Huggies nappies:

This label contains a metal strip and should not be used in microwaves.........

Can't see a pic but you also need a clear 150mm gap below the DPC!
