Existing Windows 8.1 desktop and Classic Shell

Hello

I have tried to find the answer on line but maybe I'm not Googling my question properly.

I have 8.1 and 'boot' straight to desktop with its shutdown button etc. I am pleased with my existing desktop and the icons on it and on the taskbar.

If I (take the risk) try to install Classic Shell will I lose all the icons I have at present on my desktop and the task bar and will my computer still boot directly on to my desktop. As well as folders on my desktop at present with Word documents etc in them and my Thunderbird email icon I have other things I don't want to lose and have to start over again.

I would really like the old style short menu bottom left to click on as I still miss it for ease and speed of access.

I apologise if my question is a bit vague but I hope what you know what I mean.

Thank you everyone.

Crimson
