You run a business - you are not a paragons of virtue, neither are you evil.
In reality, you're certainly not entrepreneurs and you've never created anything, developed or promoted it - you've generally done nothing more than invest in an asset that has increased in value.
Incredible.
My great uncle is worth an estimated £25 million. He is the most polite, friendly and self-deprecating man I have ever met.
I work with someone who has three 1 bed flats and lords their 'wealth' and 'success' over everyone.
Money doesn't breed class.0 -
Seems to be any post with 'parasite' in it relates to someone who does not like BTL !!0

Odd calling winners parasites?
We are supplying much needed homes for those who don't buy - we are an extremely generous group in fact.
I supply what others want, they pay what they need to pay to have a nice place to live in, I pay all the maintenance and fees - they have an easy life.
In exchange I make my money work for me .....
I'm interested in what part you believe this arrangement which benefits all parties is somehow bad? Please expand?
Correction - you supply what others NEED.
As you yourself say, your 'properties are being bought for me' and there are very few people renting that wish to buy their landlords their houses rather than their own. As a tax payer, I resent my taxes being spent to line the pockets or btl landlords.
You may see yourself as making your money work for you, another view is that you are a taking advantage of a situation to line you own pockets at the cost of others. There are many, particularly those capitalists who seem to put profit above anything else that will applaud you, as you applaud yourself. Others, like myself, are saddened by the shallow, materialistic, self interested approach to life that esults in you benefitting greatly but benefits society very little despite you convincing yourself otherwise.0 -

Why is it always assumed that jealousy is the reason. I guess it could only be someone who gives their material wealth such importance that would think it's jealousy.
Believe me I have NO jealousy of your situation. All the money I the world could never make me desire such a superficial, materialistic view of life. In fact, I feel sorry for your, but no jealousy.0 -

I wouldn't worry, he probably hasn't got two pennies to scratch his a**e with. Nobody who is genuinely wealthy, or at least very comfortable, from BTL or from anything else would come on a forum like this crowing about it in this puerile fashion. He is perhaps just a sad sack and fantasist who gets a kick out of winding people up who, probably like himself in reality, don't feel particularly well off.No-one would remember the Good Samaritan if he'd only had good intentions. He had money as well.
The problem with socialism is that eventually you run out of other people's money.

.... and why is this wrong? People seem to lash out at people who have had the foresight to invest in something that is doing well.....

The environment has been created for BTL to flourish and it has been actively encouraged. This is business, nothing more, nothing less.
I'm beginning to feel sorry for BTL'ers - bashed for being astute with money and investments.0 -

ok....
I never thought I'd defend BTL'ers as I'm not one, but they are not responsible for housing policy, just taking advantage of a unique set of circumstances and being fortunate to have the money to do so....0 -
