I went to my local nissan showroom and asked for quote for nissan note paying cash, the salesman said I would get a better deal taking nissan finance as nissan give you £1000 contribution, he said I could agree to finance take delivery of the car then cancel the finance and pay the balance off making me £1000 better off
Does anyone know if this is true or done this
I thought if you took out finance you were stuck with it paying interest for the 3 year term
Thanks

Ask to see the terms and conditions of the finance. Most have a 14 day cooling off period but make sure that their T&Cs don't say you have to pay back the contribution..0

Also, look at the figures carefully. I've just looked at Nissan Notes on the website, most of the finance deals come out at about £200-500 more expensive than paying cash (including the dealer contribution) but also give you 3 years servicing and roadside assistance, which already makes you about equal with paying cash.
Then if you consider that the 10 grand or whatever can be sat in a bank account gaining interest - why would you pay cash even if you couldn't pay it off?
Also bear in mind that you can often get bigger discounts when paying via finance. Check out https://www.drivethedeal.com for discounts, they go round dealers and find the best price. If your dealer won't match it, contact them and they will put you in touch with a dealer that will.0 -
Thanks both of you for the replies, I'll check out drivethedeal0

Drivethedeal isn't the only one, but I've found its usually the best. Others to consider are orangewheels, carfile and the WhatCar? target price. Just type in "new car broker" into google and see what they say.
