There is one wall in my house which has random lines of what looks like some kind of white powdery deposit. The wall is painted blue, so it basically looks like someone has draw random 0.5-1m long lines on it, in all different directions, in white chalk and then smudged them a little, but this is not a possible cause at all. It's very fine, so won't photograph properly for me to post and I've smudged it quite a bit now, trying to wipe it off, so the wall just looks dusty.

The wall is an internal plasterboard wall, that was painted about 15 years ago, but I've never noticed this before. Every other internal plasterboard wall in the house is an off white colour, so if it is anywhere else it wouldn't be noticeable.

Any ideas what it could be? More curious than concerned, although it is the wall the pillow end of my mattress is up against, so I've been breathing in, while sleeping, whatever it is. I'm prepared for it to be something obvious and then feel silly for asking here!

Why not a possible cause? Sounds the most obvious one.

You've lived there for 15 years but only just noticed it??

I would like to say it was plaster board bugs. That's wha I told my wife when we first moved in and there was the odd hole where nails had been taken out. :rotfl:

    Haha

I worded my post badly. I meant it hadn't been there before, if it had I would have noticed! It's appeared, for the first time, in the last few days :)

No-one has been anywhere in the house with chalk or anything else that it could be.
  • Do an image search for white mould on walls. You can see if it is that
