I don't think you'll get the default removed.
The bank made an error in not transferring the direct debit, but you didn't seem to do any checks yourself to make sure everything had transferred over properly, missing several payments?
You could have paid by card if you had been a little more "on the ball" - or set up the direct debit yourself.
The default is a true and accurate representation of the account.
It might seem harsh but it's ultimately your responsibility to make sure that things are paid. Even though there was some negligence by the bank in not transferring that direct debit, it's your responsibility to make sure that you pay your Barclaycard at least the minimum payment each month. What will your verse be?

Hi
I've now been successful at having this (along with another default) removed.
Thanks0 -
Pleased I was wrong!
Well done.
What will your verse be?

Thanks! For anyone struggling to get companies to resolve issues like this, I'd suggest emailing the CEO directly. Even though they won't reply directly, any complaints will be picked up urgently (mine were both resolved within 48hours)0

Well done for getting the defaults removed but I'm puzzled as to how it could take several months for you to realise the DD was not operating. The first statement after the missed DD would presumably have had a £12 fee for the non-payment and a quick perusal of the statement would confirm no payment had been taken. Surely you would have been straight on to your bank and/or card provider immediately to resolve the issue?0

I was straight on to them to resolve this issue, but it took my bank 12 months to resolve the complaint. I was also paperless hence assuming all had been being paid. By the time I realised, payments had already been missed. To be fair, I rarely check direct debits as its banks responsibility, under the direct debit guarantee, to make sure they're paid once they're set up (my current account always has a healthy balance)0 -
Even though you are paperless any fee charges would be still sent to you by letter.
Not to be a pessimist you should wait until all three CRA's are updated with the defaults removed. Or did you get this done already since saturday? All that glitters is not gold.0 -

I simply don't understand this mindset. By failing to check, you've caused yourself a ton of hassle. Surely it is the account holder's responsibility to make sure their account is running smoothly? Even taking out the word 'responsibility' surely it is simply good money management?
I check my bank account on a daily basis; it takes mere minutes and I can pick up any errors (for example, EE recently failed to set up two direct debits, I saw this and was able to contact them and make manual payments, thereby avoiding any late payment markers).
There was another thread by someone who gets their payslips online - they never, ever checked them (and was overpaid for three years). Why do people think it is OK to hand responsibility over to someone else and then complain when it all goes wrong?0
