Having moved from a very soft water area to a very hard one I am finding the white stains everywhere and poor dishwasher performance pretty intolerable.

I have come across an electronic one which fits onto your pipe near where the mains enters the property and allegedly it interferes with the makeup of the water and causes the lime to become soluble. Does anyone have experience of such an item please? It is about £200 and I would also have to have some wiring work done and it's not all about money-saving, comfort and convenience also come into it.
