    It's actually correct in both.

This account pays far more interest than any ISA or savings account so is entirely valid in a savings forum. Without threads on it most people would follow the hype and open an ISA when for many that is not the best place for getting a good return.

You are correct in what you say, :)

I opened a joint one yesterday. When I was asked the purpose of the account I said Savings. I was promptly told that it was a current account and therefore should have money going in and out. I changed my answer to Bills and he was happy.

Strange when applied for my joint account I said savings as the purpose and the guy was fine with it. He even commented about it being purely for 5% rate which I confirmed it was.

I was also asked what attracted me to that particular account and I said the interest rate.

The online application process has this question, but when you hover over the i (information bubble) it explains that the choice makes no difference

Hi! I opened the account online on Saturday, and got a message saying that they'd reserved a particular sortcode and account number for me, and I just need to take in ID to a branch for them to check.

Can I take it into any branch, or does it have to go to the branch that the sort code matches?

    Any branch :)
  • I just created an account online yesterday and brought in my ID and proof of address today. Simples. This is a fantastic account. Let's hope the 5% lasts a good while. Thanks OP.
  • Same here, just opened one and will be encouraging OH to do the same later... A nice little place to stash our emergency fund! :)
Thanks for the help and advice on the thread!
