So what is really happening????

I would imagine that many people are confused as is what is really happening with house prices.Ok,lots of``one offs`` are bandies about.More migration, people living alone and so on.It doesn`t in any way deal with any fundamental issues.

A couple of years ago I stumbled upon a book .It is called `` Empire of Debt`` written by Bill Bonner,a well known American investor. For me it clearly lays out the path that has lead us to were we are now.I got my copy from the library. It is a very easy and at times a witty read.

Certainly gave me my own light bulb moment.

I think the housing market is very unstable at the moment although I am sure many wouldn't agree with me.

I am due to exchange contracts on a property that I can easily afford, although it will tie up a bit more money than if I carried on renting. However what concerns me, is that there are hundreds of properties on the market now in that area and I've noticed many of them have been on the market for months and some even over a year. Properties keep reducing their prices too!

I went to see some new build top spec apartments a couple of months ago and I've noticed the prices of these have now been slashed. Can't be a good sign.

Clearly house prices in London are still on the rise but what about the rest of the country?

I know it's stupid thinking this way, but I'm starting to feel like I want to back out and cut my losses just incase there is a crash. Got the urge to carry on building up my savings account again with interest rates going up :/

Why would you have losses if their was a crash?

I meant cut my losses now and back out. I've already paid for the survey and searches.
