Beeping fridge freezer driving me nuts

Hello, I mostly post on Old Style but it was suggested I come and ask my question on this board as you guys might possible have the answer.
I have a Samsung american fridge freezer (model RSH5) which has started going crazy beeping all the time and changing the temperature display for the freezer part. I do have a British Gas service contract (a relic of a home catering business) and the engineer came on Thursday but wasn't very helpful. He suggested it was too full and that we should defrost it (it's meant to be self-defrosting and there is no ice). I appreciate that it probably was too full so have taken as much out as I can for the moment, and I can feel air circulating around it. The door closes properly. But the beeping continues, and slowly but surely destroys my sanity.
Just wondering if anyone had any experience of this or knows an ingenious fix before I smash the freezer with whatever large heavy object I can find.

Does it have an ice maker? Is it possible it needs the filter changing? I had one of these bad boys for about 5 months about 5 years ago, and I have a vague memory of this.
