O/S Daily Saturday 26th April 2014
This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine

    Morning everyone

Hugs to those that want/need them.

Now light, light cloud with sun trying to get out, still damp underfoot with a bit of a breeze.

DH and the boys still asleep in their pits. I’m enjoying a peaceful cuppa whilst on pc.

Dinner last night was chicken and bacon kievs, chips, beans and salad for the menfolk. I had mushroom omelette and salad. Realised when I got up earlier that I had forgotten to get the chicken out for tonight’s dinner, chicken curry, so have got that out to defrost, we’ll have all the normal bits to accompany it.

Was reasonably productive yesterday, got the shopping done early and used my £5 off voucher from Thursday’s newspaper – seemed to spend loads. I did visit butcher, and bought a large pork loin joint that looks lovely, hope it cooks well, as it was quite expensive, but if it’s delicious I don’t mind. I also made a dozen twinks and small cupcakes, but after I’d made them realised that my hand mixer that I use to make the icing broke the last time I used it so I binned it – the beaters wouldn’t stay attached – it’s really old and been used loads! So have ordered a new one that I will collect Monday after work – then hoping I’ll have time to make icing and get cakes done before dinner.

Plans for today are that DH will be going over to our friends, as they are helping him with a little job on our big car, hoping it won’t take too long. Whilst he’s doing that I’ll be going into town to visit the bank and do another couple of jobs. We should then be going to do a job that’s to do with the caravanning we’re involved with, not sure what time we’re going and how long it will take, I think DH needs to fill the big car with diesel too.

We’ll be visiting the outlaws and my parents at some point over the weekend. Mum managed to fall over on Bank Holiday Monday and break her arm – the right one and she’s right-handed – so that’s making everything difficult! Dad’s having to be chief cook and bottle washer for the moment! Will see if they want me to do anything.

    Keep safe and well x

Morning from a wet Aberdeen. Just going down for breakfast and then going to get the train home. Been here all week working, long hours but really productive and useful. Got me frustrated and then excited in turn.

So, mostly an OS week with only spending on wine in the evening. Haven't slept too well in this place as it's on a main road, bed is not good for me and the room smells of smoke. Not going to claim the 'good sleep guarantee' as I should have done it after the first night and didn't so can't really do it after the fifth one.

Looking forward to my own bed!

    Happy Saturday everyone.

    Morning :hello:

NPM – pigs and peacocks? When did that happen? How many and do you have pics? Ooh I have many questions :D

Mr tru finally bought the compost :D I can plant the rest of the tomatoes now. The borlotti beans have finally germinated, I thought they'd died but they were just asleep :D Every single broad bean I planted has grown, not sure where I'm going to put them all.

Completely hacked off with the job search, I've given up. I've been SE for ages, just a bit of this and a bit of that. But now I'm going to properly create my own job. Actually I've already started :D I've got an online shop – but there's nothing in it yet :D I'm going to get some decent photos taken of my stuff, make a little catalogue and hand them out to everyone I know. Make little samples so people can pick and choose their own colour combinations, as well as having things ready to sell. If anyone gets in my way, I'll just mow them down :rotfl:

Dad has requested a blanket. It's his birthday on the 4th May, he didn't ask for it for his birthday but I decided to try and make it by then. Wish me luck :D

Right, I'm off to give Chicken Red her medicine, then sort out the greenhouses.

Good Morning chums ,had a lovely sleep in my own bed last night and today after the CH boiler man has been (yearly service due ) I will have a nice day just pottering around .(my favourite occupation at the moment :):):))

Can't do a great deal houseworkwise as my tum is still a bit tender and it would be daft to undo the last three week.So I shall just do what I can and the rest can go whistle :):)

Rainy here at the moment so I shall put the small amount of washing that I chucked into the machine last night onto the airer in the conservatory, nothing urgently needed anyway so its not a problem. So this afternoon I shall be feet up and a bit of knitting and maybe some reading of the back of my eyelids :):):)

Hope everyone has a good day whatever you are doing. My gardener bless him, dropped off half a dozen car tyres for my neighbour from his friends garage, and she is so pleased as she is going to use the stacking method to grow some spuds in them.great way to use and recycle old tyres and use a small bit of space in her garden for a good use.
No shopping wanted or needed,I have enough in the cupboards to feed an army and my freezer is full to bursting.
Cheers chums almost another month gone already ,where does the time fly to :)
    Cheers JackieO xxx

    Morning all,

Wet morning although it says it's going to be dry later.

Washing is on as is dishwasher.

    DH cooking bacon for breakfast.

DS2 is causing me a lot of headaches!

Off to Aldi this morning and I WILL remember to take my £5 off voucher this time.

My dad has just rung and said he has a burning sensation in his leg and do I know the Meddoc number, so googled that for him and will see him later.

    Have a good day.

    Morning everyone :)

Breezy with some sun here. Think I may have put away my thermals too soon :rotfl:

Off to walk Luna in a bit and then we are going to go to a sci fi exhibition where I believe Dave Prowse aka Darth Vader aka the green cross code man is appearing ;) I've seen him before (along with several Star Wars cast members) but kids might get a kick out of it. Think there is a Dalek there too. Let's hope DD doesn't end up with nightmares ;)

Tea will be the usual HM pizza, I do love my Saturday night ritual of making it :D

Right had better crack on, laters

Hugs and spoons all round x

Tru good for you, others seem to make a living from things so why not you. :T

    Morning all,

Has been raining most of the night but stopped now and is looking bright so I will try to hang the washing out for a while. OH is at the boot sale and dd is on her way to Alton Towers with her boyf so hope the weather is ok up there.

OH and I will go up to mums later on and collect the bench, I think next Saturday we are all going up there again to start the big clear out, she is hopefully moving is six weeks and has a house full of clutter ! which includes my brother and nephew who moved in with her temporarily two years ago and are still there ! Brother is a bit of a waste of space and needs to get his butt into gear and sort himself somewhere to live !

We are having a takeaway curry tonight which will be nice, good clean through this morning and maybe a nap this afternoon !

    Have good days all xx
  • Good morning everyone :)

Forecast was for rain but it's bright and breezy at the moment so not sure how it is going to end up. I'm going to risk some towels on the line and keep a careful eye out.

Decluttering with a trip to the charity shop and the tip planned for today. Aim is to fill 5 large boxes currently in the hall.

Not much else going on but will try and pop back later to catch up on everyone's news.

Well wishes for all sick people and pets and hugs for those that need them or just want them. Keep well and safe and have a lovely day :)

  • Hi Bitsy
Many years ago I used to work with Dave Prowse, he used to advertise Bullworkers, it wad a sort of chest expander and as he was a famous body builder & weightlifter he was seen as an ideal person to advertise these, he'll be 80 next year.
