Other peoples kids!

Anyone else seem to have other peoples kids in their house a LOT of the time?
Funny how they always come around to mine rather than my daughter to theirs :/
I'm kind of glad as I'm a single mum to an only child so yes I'm grateful she has company of children her own age and that they are comfortable being around, it's definatly made me step up my cleaning/tidying:rotfl:
I just wondered how normal it was? I've never met some of the parents, although know where they live and if they sleepover always ensure they ask first.
:hello: Hiya, I'm single mom, avid moneysaver and freecycler, sometimes  but definatly :D

I would say your children must be older than mine (due to your sleepover comment)

But yes, it does seem to be us a lot of the time. Some friends I don't mind but some it makes me cross, especially when they come here and moan about my children not doing what they want. I have started telling them to just play out the front with the neighbours rather than come in as they come in and leave a trail of toys which they don't tidy up (not my children but the visitors)

as another mum to an only - yes, very normal in my experience. Until my DD started secondary school, I'd say about 75% of the time she was with her friends after school, it was at our house or around our house.

Now its evened out more I'd say.

way back when mine were teenagers, I could find our house filled with teenagers at weekends - but I welcomed them all ...as I learned quite a lot through judicious "earwigging" - just general snippets of conversation would give quite an insight as to what was bothering who!
  • I haven't got any children yet but yes that was me as a kid. My brother was typically the one out at his friends houses and I was the one who had everyone round at mine. My mum regularly woke up in the morning to find between 6 and 10 extra teenagers asleep on the living room floor.
  • Not in our home! I could count on one hand the number of sleepovers/playdates both our kids had here. They're now 22 and 16! Our home is very quiet and probably quite boring for kids. Not that I ever complained - hosting a houseful of kids is my idea of hell!

My house was always filled with son's friends.
I loved it that they felt comfortable enough to be here.

She's 11, we've been here almost 5 years and as she's got to know the kids around here it's happened more frequently, the other children are pretty much her age too and a lot have been here from the same time (new build) although friendships have changed as time goes on

Another single parent here-dd is almost 14-and most evenings and weekends her friends are here and have to say, I love having them:D Think it's something to do with the fact that I am a laid-back mom but it costs a flippin fortune in snacks;)
