Painting cast iron downpipes..?

Hi..the pipe has paint blisters which contain water when punctured ?? I have scraped blisters..sanded rust away....do I need special primer on the rusted areas...? it seems superficial rust. Will gloss be ok on top of that? Thanks.

You need a metal primer, an undercoat and a gloss.
Alternatively, use Hammerite Smooth, which effectively does the samethng.Eat vegetables and fear no creditors, rather than eat duck and hide.0 -

I'd use Hammerite primer 1st they do versions, 1 similar to "red lead"I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.
Will the grammar and spelling police respect I do make grammatical errors, and have carp spelling, no need to remind me.;)
