You will have to ask, yes. And you will need to send in fit notes too.

    Hi,
I've just received a years back payment of ESA, it's taken this long as, so they said, had no record of my claim, then they lost all my info and had to re-submit it all again together with a years worth of bank statements! We shouldn't have to go through all this!

Just wondering if anyone can tell me how long it takes for them to make up their minds about a claim for PIP, providing they don't lose anything else!? My friend has just gone through the medical after they cancelled 7 appointments!

    Don't phone ESA yet.

You need to wait for your Man Recon Notices (MRN) to arrive in the post, these will be 2 identical letters saying your decision has not changed.

You now need to contact the tribunal service 0300 1231142 get the relevant form to appeal, (maybe someone here knows where to get the form from without phoning?)............ you enclose one of your MRN in the appeal form and then the tribunal contacts ESA to say that you have appealed this will typically take 2 - 3 weeks from when you send off your appeal form. You should remain on JSA until the DWP ESA has recvd the appeal notice from tribunal, then and ONLY then should you close your JSA claim and then once you have it confirmed from JSA helpline that your JSA is CLOSED, THEN and only then should you phone ESA to ask them to reinstate your ESA on appeal.
