How to sell software/digital content?

Some time ago I created a piece of software and have done nothing with it. I am now unemployed and thought I would see if I could make some money from it. I searched round and found Distribly, signed up and found it would only publish your items if you connected your PayPal so I did then it tells me that the account has to be verified. I have gone through the verification process but nothing appeared on my bank account to allow me to complete the process. I've checked my details etc. But got fed up with it so searched for alternatives. Found some signed up only to find they also only pay via Paypal(verified). So I want to know if anyone can recommend an alternative to Distribly that does not use Paypal and only charges a commission on sales not a registration/monthly fee.

Why not do it yourself? They're just doing the easy bit which is taking payment.

As far as I can see Distribly don't do any marketing for you. I've been selling my own software for over 10 years and I can tell you that marketing is the most important thing you need to do. The rest is easy.

1. Get a web hosting account (I can recommend unitedhosting)
2. Create a website using Wordpress.
3. Install one of the free wordpress shopping apps (e.g. Woocommerce) - which can handle paypal payments for you, just tell it what account you want the money sent to.

Then work on press-releases, search engine optimisation etc. etc...
