Help and advice needed.

Hi all,

My mum purchased a tv via a catalogue last year September on buy now pay later (12mth) and was going to pay the full balance was due by 5/9/14, before the interest would be added. At the time she did'nt have any email address, at her request the TV was registered to LG in my name and address(same as mum's), as she did'nt know how to use a computer etc.

My mum has recently passed away and we have agreed to just clear the balance with the catalogue company to finalise the account in 3 monthly payment starting this month, as the TV will still be at my mums house(we know we did'nt need to agreed to this but its our mum and its the only bill left outstanding at her death.

My question is we have recently noticed in the last week the TV of only 8mths has developed a fault which needs fixing, do we have a right to ask for this to be fixed as the TV was ordered in my mothers name.

I'm hoping someone can help with some advice please, as this is my first time posting. So hope I have'nt confused you all.

Thanks in advance.

You may have needed to pay for the tv if your mother left any estate. If no money could be raised from her estate then of course the debt could not be passed on to relatives.

As for the tv.....as an easier option, have you tried contacting the manufacturer for a repair under warranty?

Its not technically consumer rights spirited but going the legal route would likely be extremely difficult to say the least. Especially in comparison.

As far as LG are concerned, from your post, you are their customer, not your mum. Just ring them up, it is still in warranty. Just move the TV back to your house for the repair, then everything is above board.

Your Mum's name only comes into it, with the mail order co, not the manufacturer.
