Credit card interest

I personally would always pay the full balance, not the balance minus a refund due.
Another option, is to pay the full balance, but then spend the refund amount on items such as food, petrol, for e.g £100 balance, pay £100, refund due £30, spend £30 on items, refund pays off items, then balance on next statement £0. That way, no interest and no card in credit.
However, whilst it is generally against the T&C's for card to be in credit, it is highly unlikely that a one off occurrence because of a refund hitting the card, would get the card company coming down on the customer.0 -
I managed to establish with John Lewis that, if the refund had have been processed correctly, we would have in effect paid off the whole balance on our credit card and therefore would NOT have paid interest. The shop in question were very good about the whole issue and compensated us for the interest we incurred because of their error. The receipt for the refund was unfortunately very unclear. There are lots of helpful people around
