CV advice on Universal Jobmatch

I would have to agree with BillJones. I don't really see the issue here. Why not allow employers to search for and find your CV? Mine is effectively public on LinkedIn.0

Well thank you great samaritan. Do feel free to pick up a less patronising attitude to work side by side with your helpful advice sometime.
Stupid question or otherwise, that tone was uncalled for. I was responding to a post made by another poster as I was interested enough to ask for clarification.
Could be worse. I didn't put on my very smug grin, wear an odd sock, pink shirt, kilt, and grunge wig.I call it the trollalol outfit.

I call it the trollalol outfit.
Quite bad enough for me, thank you. I can't for the life of me understand why people think they can be so bleeping rude on an Internet forum. I didn't deserve it.0 -
Just use a truncated version for public.
Way back when I was unemployed and they invented that steaming unflushed log a.k.a Universal Jobmatch, I just printed off the terms and conditions and brought their attention to the bit that said the DWP take no responsibility for damages/loss/identity theft that results from using the service.0 -
I went to sign on this morning and my advisor at Job Centre asked me if my CV on Universal Jobmatch account is pubic and I said no as I setted it to private, anyway he said that if I don't set it to public then I could face a sanction on my JSA claim.
Just wondering is he right or wrong to say I will face a sanction if I don't do what he tells me to do?
I thought its not mandatory to set CV to public? We’ve had to remove your signature. Please check the Forum Rules if you’re unsure why it’s been removed and, if still unsure, email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -

The reason why I am worried for setting my CV to public is because what if 1 day an employer lies through their teeth and tell Job Centre that I missed a interview which wasn't set up and I could face a sanction for an employer lies.
Believe me, this has happend to a person who I know and she had her Job Seekers stopped for 4 weeks because an employer told Job Centre that she was late for a interview which really she wasn't aware of a interview set up.0 -
What is the point in allowing the DWP access when you don;t have to?
If you allow them access to your CV, it also means you allow the DWP access to your whole account.
To be honest, I am not sure if what I said yesterday about the employers not having access to your profile unless you actually apply for a job they advertise, is correct or not. But really, what advantages does this give you. I think it is extremely doubtful that employers look for job candidates by searching through unemployed people's profiles on the site - even if they are able to.
There is a chance though that fraudsters could obtain your personal details (if employers can get access to your account, that would surely mean that anyone can). That is opening up a whole can of worms.
They can then sanction you if you do not apply for a job that the DWP think you should apply for (even if you do not have the necessary qualifications required by the recruiter, for example).
The stories that emanate (even if not true) would suggest that you are gfooish to allow the DWP access. You can apply for all available jobs perfectly well without allowing the DWP access.
My laptop has broken and the only access I have had to a computer over the last 10 days has been at the local library.
Fortunately it is a good library, but on their computers you still can;t apply for some jobs because of internet restrictions there. I found a job as a Sales Assistant at Pets for Home but the library computers won;t allow you access to the application process online. I phoned up the employers and there is no alternative method of applying for this job, other than through the internet. It means I can;t apply for this job until my laptop has been repaired and returned to me.
If I had given the DWP access to my account, they could easily have sanctioned me for not applying for this job.
I repeat, why the hell would I give the DWP access to my account unless I had to??!!0 -
Due to amount of scams and identity thefts currently being carried out as a result of people making their CV's public, linked to UJM, via the JCP, the OP would be well advised NOT to make his CV public, whatever pressure is applied.

The JCP advisors know full well, or should do, as per their own regulations that they cannot force a claimant to make the CV public.
So, any sanction given could be appealed, and would succeed.
Apparently, the UJM and this system of CV's publicly displayed will have to be discarded soon anyway.
LinYou can tell a lot about a woman by her hands..........for instance, if they are placed around your throat, she's probably slightly upset.0
