If he has been an employed worker, and he is not entitled to SSP, he will be entitled to ESA - employment and support allowance - contribution based.

    Is your mother working?
If not, then they may be entitled to some income-based ESA as a couple, which would entitle them to support for mortgage interest. He can make a backdated claim to the time he stopped being paid - assuming he can get a note dated to this time. (or whoever acting for him can)
Is your brother in reciept of DLA/PIP - and if so at what level.
It may be that either your mother or father (depending on his condition) may be able to claim carers allowance for looking after him.

Firstly, let me say how sorry I am that your Dad has had a stroke...:(
Hopefully he will make a full recovery !

Has your Dad received the SSP1 form from his employer yet ? They should supply it within 7 days. Does he not qualify because his earnings were below a certain limit ?

BB and Rogerblack always provide excellent info. :)
