                    Hi,
Hope some of you telephone experts can help me here.
I've been using the saynoto0870 alternative numbers for a while to save on my phone bill. I just rang an 0800 on the list for a credit card company and got another department. I was told to call the 0870 number. I said I couldn't from my line, and the rep said that once they drop the line and transferred me to the other department, I would incur the cost of the 0870 call. Is that correct?

            No, its not true.
If you called a 0800 number, than thats what you would be charged for - even if they transferred the number elsewhere.

Its not possible to change the price of a call in mid flight. So if its Free to start with it will be free until you terminate it ,no matter what the reciever of the call does with it,as Sunil points out.0

I have done this many a time, especially with my house and car insurance company and sometimes my utility.Even though i know it should be a chargeable call, if i have a freephone number from when i first rang for a quote,i use it and then plead total ignorance.I can't remember a time when that ploy failed!! and i have NEVER been charged yet.0

I was just confirming to goindoin that i have done what he intends to do,and never been charged by BT for it.Have to say i did wonder to begin with but it seems like a good ruse if the person on the other end falls for the "ignorance" plea!!Had one or two refuse to transfer me but you can't win 'em all!!:D0
