I certainly would appreciate any assistance with this issue.
Sound on my netbook (Acer Aspire One 725) is totally dead. No output through built in speakers or headphones. Running Windows 8.
I've tried checking for driver updates (none) Windows Updates, checking volume, running troubleshooters/ fix it tools, which all fail to find any issue, re-started PC, Avast & Malwarebytes quick scans find no issues.
Everything in settings and device manager etc indicate no problems.
I can only get error messages to indicate a problem when I attempt to play a song in Windows Media Player or when fiddling with sound properties trying to play test sounds.
I know it was working fine last night as I was watching video and this morning I didn't notice absence of sound- although I could have over looked it.
I cannot think of any changes which have occurred from the last point where I know for certain it was working.
I watch a lot of TV via laptop this is certainly a problem for me.
Laptop is 3 weeks out of warranty and i've just updated PC so no money to replace.
Does anyone have any suggestions?
Could I try a system restore to get the sound working again? Never attempted something so complex before!

Back up all data and system restore.
If it still not work, you may want to try usb soundcard/ usb headphone/ usb speaker. (I would recommend you get it from place like amazon or ccloline/ scan at ebay with collect from argos. You can easily return it under distance selling act if usb don't work either)0 -
Thank you for the suggestions.
For some reason after I spent 3 hours trying to fix it, I accidentally re-booted again instead of a shut down. Decided to just try once more as the system was ready and it was all working fine again.... d'oh!0
