Where to start?

Hi, all of my colleagues have reclaimed PPI and all have been successful and received thousands of pounds. Lucky them! I have no idea if I have ever had PPI, I would not knowingly have taken it out, but over past 15 years have had car loans, store cards, credit cards and mortgages.
I have found phone numbers for the main banks on martins website but cannot find details of other companies, eg goldfish, HFCS. oh and also I do not have a scrap of paperwork as I seriously decal uttered my house 3 years ago! Where do I start? Should I ring and ask if I've had PPI or should I use the template letter and say that I may have been miss old. Thanks

On a positive note, I was informed that I had been miss sold cpp and received a cheque for £45! :T
