Pest Control - Birds

Hi all,
Just discovered we have pigeons roosting in our loft, called a local pest control company and had a quote to install some chicken wire like stuff at the pigeon entry point in the roof to stop them from coming in. The quote was £120.
I am wondering whether anyone has any experience with this and whether that's reasonable.
Thanks

Can you not seal up the hole or fit a mesh grill of some sort? It must be pretty big if a pigeon can get into your loft. If there is a hole there is the potential for water/snow to get into your roof. Pigeons/birds might of pecked through the roof felt which might give access to anything that wants a warm and dry home. Think vermin.
The average handyman could probably do it for less and do a better job. You might be able to DIY if you can get to it with some boards. However doing it from outside might give the best result. Personally I would not be satisfied with chicken wire or anything of that sort, I think it should be finer than that.
It depends upon the location and why there is a hole.0
