I sent my initial letter to Barclays in March, they then sent me a letter saying they would have a response in 2 weeks. AFter 2 weeks, I have another letter saying they will respond in 4 weeks. After waiting 4 weeks, I received a letter this week, saying they still haven't finished looking into my complaint and will get back to me, in you've guessed it, ANOTHER 4 weeks.
It also stated I am entitled to contact the Financial Ombudsmen. I just wondered if anyone has had this response from the bank with no rejection or offer given.
What would you do in my position? Write to the bank and ask for an offer before I contact the Ombudsmen?

The bank has to aim to answer your complaint within a reasonable timescale. it will send what are known as holding letters if it cannot answer your complaint quickly. After 8 weeks, they have to tell you that you have the right to refer your complaint to the FOS if you wish. What would you do in my position? We don't know what your complaint is about. So, its hard to comment. Tell us that and we will let you know (and its important we know the context as bank charge reclaim attempts are very specific nowadays. "unfair" bank charge complaints get treated differently to say financial hardship bank charge cases.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). The comments I make are just my opinion and are for discussion purposes only. They are not financial advice and you should not treat them as such. If you feel an area discussed may be relevant to you, then please seek advice from an Independent Financial Adviser local to you.0 -
You aso don't get to ask for an offer.
You wait until they make their minds up, or you send your complaint to the ombudsman.
If you're complaining about bank charges, unless you are currently in financial hardship, your complaint will fail.Non me fac calcitrare tuum culi0
