Over 65, get in free to many of the sites in Rome

Whilst on our trip across Italy and visiting Rome, I noticed that if you are over 65 and you are from a EU country and have proof you got in free..My husband and two of our friends happen to be in this age group so we asked when we went to the colosseum, saving us 36 euros. Again when we went to Pompeii again another saving...worth asking when any one is next travelling through a member of the EU
