Erroneous Default finally getting removed

Thought a good news story wouldn't hurt.
Long story long. I check my file regularly and have always known about a default (paid I might add) that shows a default registering 3yrs later than it actually would have occured, but just accepted I would have to live with this horrible default till 2017!!!
Some background. The default registered in 2011, with no history between 2007 when the account opened to the default. I ran into difficulties mid 2007 so would have expected a default 3-6 months after the first missed payment.
After doing A LOT of research on forums and some regulators resources, I thought I would raise this to the owner of the debt. Some may wonder why I didn't do this before. I didn't because I had lost all the paperwork which most advise you need to even have a chance.
I explained I would like all my previous history added to my file first off and then the default date amending as 3+ years after the first missed payment is just ridiculous as my file would reflect poorly for 10 YEARS almost!!!!!
At first, I just got a standard response saying I had paid it off and nothing else was required by me or them. So I persisted and ~5 weeks after raising, I called to chase and a nice woman in the complaints dept admitted the clear error and said that they would remove the default as it would then be over 6yrs.
My file will be immaculate when its removed and I am so happy!!!
Lesson of the day, ALWAYS Raise errors in your credit file and persist to get them fixed!
