Changing phone number in Hotmail

Does anyone know how on earth I change my phone number in Hotmail? I can't see anywhere to do it in either my account settings or my profile settings. For some reason Hotmail have decided that they need to text me a code so that I can verify my account (it's genuine, it happens everywhere I try to access my account from). The problem is they have a really old number that I don't even remember adding to my account info so I obviously can't access the text if they send it there, I need to change it to my current mobile number. I can still get into my account but it says I have three days to enter the code before I can't get in any more, eek! Anyone else had this problem? If so how on earth do I fix it?

whilst signed into Hotmail on a web browser go to:

https://account.live.com/proofs/Manage

That's where can set the 2 step validation and telephone numbers...

With secondary email address set up as security detail, there is usually an option to say "I do not have access to this email address". That is normally done by selecting that option in a drop down showing your old security detail.

Is there no option to skip it?? Usually they give you some days and then offer you an email option.
