I would be chuffed with a lottery ticket, especially a Euro one.

I don't really get the whole sweetie table thing at all.

Ours was massively popular with everyone

I would warn against lottery/scratch cards - I have to say if I received one of these at a wedding I'd be pretty offended - gambling is against my religion, and I certainly wouldn't want to receive something associated with gambling as a gift or a favour - so unless you know that everyone would be alright with it, I would choose something less likely to offend

Personally offended, really? That's a bit dramatic when someone was only trying to do something nice, surely?

I would it would be quite simple to explain that because of your religious beliefs, you can't accept it, but thanks for the thought.

I'm not trying to undermine your religious beliefs but surely in today's modern world you must encounter things that aren't compatible with your beliefs, but are pretty common day to day in the UK?

I bought some of those little net bags on eBay (from China so cheap as chips) and filled them with sweets like gummy cherries, pink shrimps and foam bananas. Cost me less than £50 in total for 130 guests and I even had sweets left over so people could top up their bags.

We had quite a few favours for the day and evening guests I wanted to spoil them all a bit ( I know not very money saving of me at all) but I did save in loads of other areas!!

For the evening we had a sweetie buffet and a keyring photographer for which I paid for every guest to get their own keyring photo as a little favour and something nice for them to take home as they could get a picture of themselves with whoever they wanted! my mum got loads as there were a few people that didn't show up or didn't use their voucher so she was in her element which was lovely as she got pics with loads of her family she doesn't see that much and with us!!

In the day for the ladies we gave these gorgeous flower rings or the matching bobbles in green which matched our colour scheme ( I think they were something like 0.69p each from dotcomgitshop in a favour box ( gorgeous ones we were given for free) with vegan friendly soap ( which smelled amazing) these were £15 for 48 and I had accidentally ordered teeny envelopes so I figured I could write the names on these and had loads of lovely infinity figure of 8 charms ( I'd brought for our hand fasting chords and perhaps for the invitations)that I put inside the envelope with a length of chord that we had left over from making our invitations so they could make their own infinity charm bracelets. For the fellas I got a bargain in Halfords of the mini meccano sets for 25p each one!

They didn't work out a lot a person at all and everyone loved them all we didn't have to take any home with us so that was great as people were telling me no point having favours they just get left on the table so I was like phew!!

We also had photo frames as name place settings that we stamped with a tree and put names onto so two names were on there and as most of the twos were couples or families or living together they got to take that home as another favour everyone loved this too and again this was initially what I was going to do for favours but I couldn't get one for every guest as they were too bulky to fit on the table and I'd only managed to get 30 on deal in Dunelm Mill.

Reading back it does seem like a lot but if I worked it out it wouldn't have been that much per guest so I was very pleased with it and it made everyone happy so it made me happy!! I think I've probably got some picture of the bits if anyone wants to see what I mean it was probably hard to explain!

I think my point was I don't think it's a waste of money at all if you think about what you're getting and try to tailor it to your theme and if it can double as entertainment or a place setting even better as it can save money as well! xxx

Can anyone give me any ideas / inspiration for wedding favours?

We will have 35 guests and ideally don't want to spend more that £2 pp

    Thanks!

We are donating the money to cancer research and buying a pin for each female guest for them to keep. A designer pin and card costs £2 delivered and we can make reference to remembering some significant family members who cannot join us as a result of cancer.

A local charity or hospice near you might do lottery tickets like these.

My local hospice does lovely ones, personalised too.

Now that's a brilliant idea! We could get these for the hospice which helped my fianc!s nan and a donation to the cancer research to recognise my granddad.

  • Last wedding I went to the bride actually apologised for the lack of favours saying that she had made a donation to a charity close to her heart instead.

Thought it was pretty sad that she felt the need to apologise personally but totally supported her decision

Best favours I've had at weddings are mini welsh cakes, a trolley coin (bought from a charity) and a lottery ticket for a wedding that was on a Saturday.
