Is it worth claiming?

I sent an item worth about £17 via tracked. RM lost it. Is it worth claiming or is the process to much hassle?

Is this a trick question?
Why would you bother with tracking if you aren't sure whether to use the insurance that the postage method offers?0 -
Depends how much you want your money back.0

Did RM lose it or did the buyer say they didn't receive it?
What 'tracked' method did you use?0 -

RM lost it. There is no signature when I check the website. I used Royal Mail Recorded Delivery.
The package was a gift and the item itself wasn't valuable in money, but more than money can buy. That's why I sent it recorded.SECRET OF SUCCESS IN LIFE:

Do you know if the recipient has received the item? Recorded often gets delivered without a signature being obtained or noted on the RM website. It doesn't necessarily mean it hasn't been delivered.
Recorded is not tracked. For valuable items you should use Special Delivery for a much more reliable service.0 -

What does the RM track and trace show? I know there is no signature but what is the message in the screen?
Have RM actually verified it has been lost or are you assuming that because the message doesn't show delivered?0 -
It's probably been delivered then. The buyer will surely contact you if they have not received something.the_matrix wrote: »I'm not sure and don't know if I will ever know.
If you wish you can contact RM who are likely to send you a book of stamps when a signature should have been obtained.0
