Bathroom Renovation order

Morning all!
I need to completely re-do my very small bathroom but rather then get a fitter to do the whole job was thinking of doing it section by section. I can't seem to find a decent bathroom fitter!

I am just concerned about the order of doing the job.

For instance, the wall around my bath is not at all flat or straight so would need skimming I imagine as well as the ceiling that is cracked. (I want to tile the whole bathroom)

I thought I would get a plumber in to do the actual refit along with shower and then get someone else in for the tiling etc.

There are no tiles on the walls presently and I have read that you don't need to skim the walls if you are going to tile. Is this correct and what would I do about the wavy wall around the bath?

Could someone be kind enough to list the order of works for me?
Also, I presume this is a cheaper option rather than one person doing the whole thing. Am I right?

I've just done the same so hope I can help. Added advantage is that I wasn't living there.

The walls are imperative if you are going to get a nice finish. This really can only be done by getting somebody to remove

    (i)

    Wash Hand Basin
    WC
    Panelled Bath

    (ii)

Ensure wiring for Shower and pipes are okay for new suite. Also Extractor Fan.

Then you should ideally have a plasterer lined up.

    (iii)

He can board the ceilings and replaster the walls.

    (iv)

    Refit a new

    Wash Hand Basin
    WC
    Panelled Bath
    Shower

    (v)

Tile around Shower or all bathroom walls if required

    (vi)

    Tile floor

I was priced 5k. Managed to buy all my own stuff and the bathroom looks great for 1.6k

When mine was done the fitter would make sure the WC was connected each night , during the day I made use of my local tesco facility ;)

Showers were taken at friends or at my gym

You could leave the WC in at a last resort. That shouldn't really get in too much of the way of a plasterer.

When I done mine I left the upstairs loo in place for as long as possible!
